Braxton was eager to get the day started; he didn't waste any time. He was scheduled to meet most of the staff on this slow start till Monday. First up is this with the yeoman. She had already reported in and was standing in front of his desk.
"Please have a seat. How are you settling in on the Intrepid?"' Braxton asked, as he looked to the young lady. We hoped she was comfortable. I didn't have been easy being unlisted personnel, meeting with the first-of-service Starship. Typically, they met with the Chief of the Boat, but due to her position, she would be working with them online, and he wanted to get the chance to know the yeoman of the captain.
"Thank you." She took a seat. She was nervous but was doing her best for it not to show. She didn't want to overdo it, as then it would look obvious. She hoped that she would control her nervousness, as she had been doing well so far, but it always seemed to be worse around men.
"How are you settling in?" Braxton asked, as he repeated his question again. He could tell from her body language that she seemed to be a little nervous.
"So far so good, sir. My quarters are pretty nice. I'm still sorting my belongings though. I like to put things in the right place so it feels homely." Lireh commented.
Braxton was not surprised; a yeoman that was organised. They would have to be. Keeping a captain on track would be a full-time job of organisation and structure. He hoped she was ready for it. "I know what you mean; I have to get my things unpacked too. I will admit, Petty Officer, you were given your own quarters because of your unique schedule. That you will carry it; it would not be fair to any potential roommate you may have to make them adhere to your unique schedule." Braxton said, what he did not say was that he was the reason why she got her own room. But he did not want her to know it was him.
"I do appreciate that, Sir. Very much so. I like to be organised and wouldn't wish to have to deal with anyone else's idea of organised or lack thereof. "
"You're welcome. I want to make sure that you build in time for yourself. We're on a little bit of downtime, and you need to take advantage of that. Braxton advised to account not wanting her to be a workaholic, like most Yeomans.
"I appreciate that, Sir. I will see what I can do with the downtime."
"Unless you have questions for me, you're dismissed," Braxton said with a warm smile on his face.
"No questions. Thank you, sir."
